Contact Sports - Physical Trauma

As anyone can guess..... in the college sport of ice hockey, the players encounter a variety of game conditions where physical contact is considered routine. Hockey players are subject to a number of physical forces and do experience, from time to time, physical trauma to the face and jaw.

The cosmetic and functional characteristics of anyone's dentition can change rapidly and unpredictably when subjected to physical forces emanating from various angles. Even the healthiest teeth (typical of young college age team members) will respond in kind to physical forces that are not considered to be normal.. by anyone's standard. Ice hockey is a physically demanding confrontation sport ... and accidents do happen.
